Offices, industrial halls and petrol stations: buildings where the light has to serve the work done inside and, at the same time, say what the building is to whoever passes at a distance.
Lighting masterplans
The scale at which light stops being a project and becomes part of urban design. Diana Delnegro coordinated Lisbon's first lighting masterplan, still awaiting implementation; the lighting of Porto's ring of medieval walls was designed to reshape the night image of the city; and in Porto Alegre the studio designed, with three other lighting designers, the lighting of 55 cultural landmarks of the historic centre, taken as one set rather than as 55 separate commissions. Diana Delnegro chairs the CIE technical committee for urban architectural lighting and has taught the CIE guide to urban lighting masterplans in Italy, in 2022, and at the Istanbul conference in May 2023.
